Moissanite is gaining ground as an alternative to diamond — but what exactly are the differences? And which one should you choose? In this article, we'll honestly compare them side-by-side so you can make an informed decision.
What is the difference in hardness?
With a score of 10 on the Mohs scale, diamond is the hardest material in the world. Moissanite scores 9.25. Both are excellent for daily wear. In practice, you won't notice any visible scratches or wear on moissanite with normal use.
Which one sparkles more?
This is where moissanite scores surprisingly well. Moissanite's refractive index (2.65–2.69) is higher than that of diamond (2.42). This means moissanite refracts light more brightly, giving a livelier, more fiery effect. Some people find this a bit too flashy; others find it just right. Watch videos in sunlight yourself — the difference is clearly visible.
What about color?
Earlier moissanite sometimes had a slight yellow or green undertone. Modern moissanite (like that used at Titanix) is completely colorless and falls into the D-F grade — the highest color grade, identical to the most expensive diamonds.
And the price?
The biggest difference. A 1 carat good quality diamond quickly costs €3,000–€8,000 or more. A comparable 1 carat Titanix moissanite costs €79.95 — including a GRA certificate. That's a difference of factor 40 to 100, for something that is visually barely distinguishable.
Certification: GRA vs. GIA
Diamonds are certified by institutes such as GIA. Moissanite receives a GRA certificate (Gemological Research Association). Both are official proof of the stone's quality, color, clarity, and size. At Titanix, every piece of jewelry includes a GRA certificate.
Ethics and sustainability
Diamond mining has a complex ethical history: conflict diamonds, environmental damage, and poor working conditions are real risks depending on the region. Lab-created moissanite has none of these problems. It is a conscious, ethical choice.

| Color | D-F colorless | Varies |
| Price (1 carat) | From €79.95 | €3,000–€8,000+ |
| Certificate | GRA (included) | GIA or similar |
| Ethical | Yes — lab-grown | Depends on origin |
Which will you choose in 2026?
If you value visual brilliance, certified quality, and a fair price — moissanite is the logical choice in 2026. If the historical status and rarity of a diamond weigh more heavily for you, a diamond is the right choice. Both are beautiful. The question is what feels right for you.
