Frequently asked questions about moissanite
Everything you want to know about moissanite, our jewelry, and your order. If your question isn't listed, feel free to email or WhatsApp us.
What exactly is moissanite?
Moissanite is a real gemstone with its own crystal structure—not an imitation. The stone was originally discovered in a meteorite and is now created in laboratories with the same properties. To the naked eye, moissanite is almost indistinguishable from a diamond, but at a fraction of the price.
Is moissanite fake?
No. Moissanite is a distinct gemstone (silicon carbide), not a fake diamond. It is its own valuable stone that happens to strongly resemble a diamond. With every Titanix piece of jewelry, you receive a GRA certificate confirming the authenticity and quality of the stone.
Does moissanite pass a diamond tester?
Yes—our moissanite jewelry passes the diamond test. A standard (thermal) diamond tester measures how well a stone conducts heat, and moissanite conducts heat almost as well as diamond. The tester therefore indicates 'diamond'. It remains moissanite: a distinct gemstone that is almost indistinguishable from a diamond with the naked eye—and even with such a tester. Only a special moissanite tester can tell the difference. For complete certainty about your stone, each piece of jewelry comes with a GRA certificate.
Does moissanite dull over time?
No. Moissanite does not lose its sparkle or become cloudy or dull, even after years of daily wear. The stone retains its brilliance for a lifetime. An occasional simple cleaning keeps it shining.
Is moissanite scratch-resistant and suitable for daily wear?
Yes. Moissanite scores 9.25–9.5 on the Mohs hardness scale—just below diamond (10) and harder than almost any other gemstone. This makes it excellent for resisting scratches and perfect for jewelry you wear every day, such as an engagement ring.
Which carat size should I choose?
That depends on your taste and the type of jewelry. Below you can see the approximate size of the stone per carat (round cut). 1 carat is subtle and elegant, 2–3 carats is a popular statement size, and 5 carats really stands out. Also, read our complete carat guide.
What does the GRA certificate mean?
GRA stands for an independent grading report that specifies the characteristics of your moissanite stone—such as color, cut, carat weight, and clarity. It is your proof of authenticity and quality. Every Titanix piece of jewelry includes a GRA certificate.
How do I clean my moissanite jewelry?
Very simply: briefly place the jewelry in lukewarm water with a little mild soap, gently brush with a soft (tooth)brush, and rinse. Pat dry with a soft cloth. This will make your jewelry sparkle like new again. Avoid harsh chemicals.
What is the difference between moissanite and cubic zirconia (CZ)?
Moissanite is much harder (9.25–9.5 vs. ~8 Mohs), sparkles more intensely, and remains clear. Cubic zirconia is softer, scratches more easily, and often dulls over time. Moissanite is therefore a more durable and luxurious choice that is much closer to diamond.
Is 925 sterling silver hypoallergenic?
Yes. All our jewelry is made of real 925 sterling silver, which is hypoallergenic and skin-friendly—also suitable for sensitive skin. Gold-plated variants (gold, white gold, rose gold) have a 925 silver base.
